Science Event
Guidelines
There are just a few guidelines everyone needs to be aware of:
The Science Event is open to students in all grade levels at Sugar Creek Elementary School.
- Students may participate in both the Science Event and the Author Event.
- Although students learn the most when they work alone and it is easier for adult helpers to coordinate activity, students may team up with others to do a project. Teams should be limited to three students. If students work in mixed-grade teams, then their project will be judged in the grade category of the oldest student contributing to the project.
- Each student/team working on a project must have an adult helper. The adult should help the student(s) organize the project and safely do activities.
- Please do note use dangerous chemicals in projects.
- Please do not bring live animals, latex (including balloons) or peanut or tree nut products to the Science Event.
- If students plan to use an electrical circuit, then the energy source should come from a battery. Students should not plan on using electrical outlets at the school.
- If students plan to use water or other liquids, then they should bring a roll of paper towel to the Science Event.
- To make sure we have room for everyone at the Science Event, display boards and projects need to be tabletop size.
- Each project should have a display board which clearly shows the findings of and/or other information about the project. Display boards will be provided for each project.
- In a two minute or less video, the students should describe their project to the judges. This video should be recorded on the student’s school iPad using the camera app.
